QATAR DERBY - THOMAS FOURCY KEEPS HIS TITLE

DOHA (QA), 28th December 2016

PA, 3yos, 1,600 m, $100,000

Already winner of this race last year with Aba’ath (Amer) but also in 2014 and 2015 with Mister Ginoux (Amer), Thomas Fourcy kept his title in the Qatar Derby, reserved for 3yo Purebred Arabians. Ateej (AF Albahar), still maiden in three runs, managed to win for his start in Qatar.

In a well-paced race, Ateej was still last at the beginning of the home straight. He came on the outside and made the difference in the last metres. Thomas Fourcy explained: “He had not won yet but had run in good lots. He progressed each time and today, he showed his class. The pace helped him and he is the horse to succeed on these kind of tracks.”
