A WORD FROM AFAC - ROYAN, WHERE TOP CLASS PUREBRED ARABIANS ARE TRAINED

Without a doubt, currently the most successful training centre in France for jumps horses thanks to the likes of Guillaume Macaire, Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé and François Nicolle, Royan is also home to many top class Purebred Arabian horses.

On the 14th May, thanks to the exploits of AFAC, in collaboration with the Comité Régional des Courses au Galop du Sud-Ouest (the South-West Racing Regional Committee), headed by Axelle Nègre de Watrigant, Royan racecourse held it’s first ever Purebred Arabian races: the Prix Alban Jamme and a new race, the Prix Mister Ginoux.

André Jirodineau, President of Royan Racing Society (Société des Courses de Royan), said: “I am delighted to host these two Purebred Arabian races. This came about thanks to the actions of AFAC and Thomas Fourcy, a top Purebred Arabian trainer, who is based here. He came to me with the proposition to host these races.” Thomas Fourcy won the two races of the day. “It is a great reward for all the work done by the stable, continues André Jirodineau. Thomas Fourcy has joined the board here. We have excellent contacts and we are currently looking to expand and change into different domains. We are very lucky to have someone like him based here. He is innovative, professional, and it is a pleasure to work with him. I’m very pleased for his success.

Positive involvement from AFAC

Nicole Kraft [editor's note: director of AFAC] honoured us with her presence today, and visited the training centre. She was full of admiration for our tracks. She left enchanted by the training centre.” On the racing, “the Prix Alban Jamme was won by Ibn Al Ryma and the young apprentice rider Maxime Aubry, whom I take my hat off to. The races went well, the horses were beautifully presented. The weather was beautiful; the track was in perfect condition. Long may this continue. It was a great showcase event.
