SHADWELL DUBAI INTERNATIONAL STAKES - LIGHTNING BOLT STRIKES

Bred in France by his trainer, Karin Van Den Bos, Lightning Bolt (Munjiz), took a second Group I PA in the Shadwell Dubai International Stakes.

On his last start, Lightning Bolt was beaten in a Listed at Duindigt by Jaldi Karo (Jehol de Cardonne). This latter finished sixth at Newbury. The trainer of the winner, Karin Van Den Bos, said: “It’s great to be here and to have Olivier Peslier riding my horse. He is one of the best jockeys in the world. I knew that the track at Newbury would suit the horse. There was an incident during the race when he had his prep run, where he was beaten by Jaldi Karo. But I knew that he was superior to this latter”.

The uterine brother to Samima

Bred by Karin Van Den Bos in France, Lightning Bolt is non other than the half brother to Samima (Dahess), winner of the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches de 4ans (Gr. I PA) and the Qatar Cup - Prix Dragon (Gr. I PA) last year. Lightning Bolt is therefore the son of Oleya du Loup (Kerbella), who won seven races during her racing career, including some in France, notably the Prix Baroud II and the Prix de l’Élevage. Oleya du Loup was also trained by Karin Van Den Bos. The second dam, Ina Scot de Colmar (Olympe la Coste), is the uterine sister to Okapi Domenjoi (Tidjani), the dam of the useful Ibn Battuta Monlau (Dormane), who won five races on the turf at Abu Dhabi and also took third place in the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup - Prix Chéri Bibi (Gr. II PA). This is a branch of the great family of Nevada II (Djanor).
