A WORD FROM AFAC - FRENCH EXCELLENCE RECOGNISED AT THE SHEIKHA FATIMA BINT MUBARAK DARLEY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

The Darley Awards are the 'Oscars' of Purebred Arabian racing in the United States, and they have been celebrated annually in a lavish ceremony since their inception in 1987. His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the driving force behind the international festival of Purebred Arabian racing, became linked to this big event in 2012. The upshot of this was the creation of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley International Awards, which recognise the top women in the profession and the achievements of Arabian fillies and mares. The world of Arabian racing was on show at this year’s ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on April 6th, when the French picked up two awards. Muneera (Dormane) was recognised as the top four-year-old filly after her win in the Qatar Total Arabian Trophy des Juments (Gr. I PA) at Chantilly last year. She is trained by Damien de Watrigant for Al Nujaifi Racing. Val Bunting, the Al Nujaifi manager, was rewarded for her career achievements.
