PRIX RAZZIA III - BASEEL CONFIRMS HER INTRODUCTORY PROMISE

LA TESTE-DE-BUCH (FRA), 13th July 2018

Gr. III PA - 3-year-olds - Females - 1,800m - € 20,000

After making an eye catching debut in the Prix Fedora at Toulouse on June 1st, all eyes were trained on Baseel (Munjiz) coming in to the Prix Razzia III (Gr. III PA). In superb condition, the Xavier Thomas-Demeaulte protégée only had one behind her in the early stages, before making her effort in the straight. She prevailed at the main expense of the debutante Bayan (Munjiz) after rallying strongly at the business end. The latter made her thrust up the rail and is in the same ownership as the winner. Farida du Croate (Munjiz) completed the finishing order in third.

Thierry Delègue, the manager of YAS Horse Racing who own the winner, said: "We are very happy as Baseel confirmed the high regard we hold her in following her winning debut. She did it well despite the pace not being overly taxing which didn’t tend to favour the hold-up horses. The unraced Bayan, though, kept her honest which bodes well for the future. The dam of Bayan, Mowafaka (Tidjani), is a full sister to Dahwa: a quality mare who has generated some good horses for His Highness Sheikh Mansoor. Mowafaka has now produced a good filly in common with her sister."

A STABLE IN CRACKING FORM

The fact that the colours of Yas Horse Racing, the nom de course of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, filled the first two places was indicative of the great form enjoyed by this owner. For these same colours have won six Group PA races in the first half of the season.

It should also be noted that the first three home in the Prix Razzia III (Gr. III PA) were all sired by Munjiz (Kesberoy). The latter stands at the Wathba Stud Farm: the breeding entity of the same Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

THE FAMILY OF THE CHAMPION DARIYA

Baseel is the best product of her dam Assrar (Dormane) who won her first two French starts. Above all, she is a full sister to the high class Dariya whose eight wins took in the Zaabeel International Stakes and the Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes (Gr. Is PA). Her sibling Sahlambo (Munjiz) numbered the Critérium des Pouliches (Gr. II PA) among her seven wins. The second dam Cr Samborsta (Sambor) made her mark in the US where her seven wins comprised the AJC Delaware Oaks (Gr. I PA)
