SHADWELL ARABIAN STALLIONS HATTA INTERNATIONAL STAKES - JOUDH’S BRITISH JAUNT

NEWBURY (GB), 29th July 2018

Gr. I PA - 4-year-olds and up - Females - 2,000m - € 39,000

Despite the softening of the ground which was hardly in her favour, and up against a largely beatable field, Joudh (Mahabb) took the Shadwell Arabian Stallions Hatta International Stakes (Gr. I PA) without forcing her talent at Newbury on July 29th. It was her third

Group I PA success. The Didier Guillemin protegée raced in mid-division away from the rail. Going to the final 400 meters, the filly, still in the thick of it, had yet to be asked a question by Olivier Peslier. However, on seeing daylight, Joudh left her considerable imprint on proceedings. Responding to a flick of the whip, Joudh was never to relinquish the lead by repelling the good effort of Sharesa (Burning Sand). Eiman du Loup (Kerbella) was beaten under three lengths into third.

TAKING A STEP TOWARDS THE QATAR TOTAL ARABIAN TROPHY DES JUMENTS

Thierry Delègue, the racing manager of Yas Horse Racing Management, told the foreign press: “It wasn’t an easy task for her granted that ground had eased. She was a very smart three-year-old as denoted by her Al Rayyan Cup - Prix Kesberoy and Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes (Gr. Is PA) wins. The filly has taken time to come herself after not having the best of winters. She was coming off a few placings and, prior to Newbury, had run second in the Shadwell - Critérium des Pouliches (Gr. II PA). As things stand, she will be aimed at the fillies’ race on the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend before certainly going to Abu Dhabi.”

HAILING FROM A NOTABLE SHEIKH MANSOUR BLOODLINE

Joudh is out of the exceptional broodmare Shamayl (Kesberoy): the source of six black type performers. The latter’s impressive production line includes Mabrooka (Mahabb) – the winner of the Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes, against the ‘boys’, and the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches (Gr. Is PA); Rakha (Mahabb), successful in the Liwa Oasis (Gr. I PA) and the French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge - Pouliches; Rmmas (Mahabb), second in the Prix Burkeguy - Wathba Stallions Cup (L PA); Haanoof (Quazar), third at Group III PA level at Abu Dhabi; and Baraaqa (Sire d’Albret) who beat all bar the champion Kiss de Ghazal (Dormane) in the Qatar French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge pour Pouliches (L PA) in 2010.The second dam, Kâline du Loup (Djouras Tu), is responsible for the Arabian Jockey Club Derby and the Arabian Cup Stakes (Gr. Is PA) winning Câlin de Louve (Djelfor). This particular branch of the Nevada II (Djanor) line was the inspiration of breeder Jean-Marc Saphores with the former responsible for producing Chéri Bibi (Baroud III).
