ARABIAN TRIPLE CROWN ROUND 3

Gr3 PA - 4-year-olds - 2,400m – AED 300,000

Oman strikes again via Hakeemat Muscat

Hakeemat Muscat (Akim de Ducor), the raider from the neighbouring Sultanate of Oman, has never disappointed since her arrival in the United Arab Emirates. Placed in the 'Abu Dhabi Championship (L PA) and The UAE Derby, she proved to be the most fleet-footed of all after taking The Arabian Triple Crown Round 3 (Gr3 PA) in good style. The Omani-born winner represents the trainer-owner combination of Younis Al Kalbani and The Muscat Stud. Margham Dubai (Munjiz) and Rb Lam Tara (General), racing in a hood for the first time, were respectively second and third. Harrab (Bibi de Carrère), the hot favourite, could manage only fifth. Younis Al Kalbani, the winning handler, said: « She’s a superb filly and we like her a lot. She has never disappointed, having finished in the first three on two prior starts. She really deserved this win and showed her fighting qualities. At home, she is an active filly of straightforward disposition and is one that gives no problems. » The win enabled Omani horses to continue on an upward curve abroad following the victory of BF Mughader (Falak) in The Emirates Championship (Gr1 PA).

Descended from the line of Cherifa. The pedigree of Hakeemat Muscat is quintessentially French. The dam, Djourella (Kerbella), has generated a number of smart performers and notably Tefkir (Njewman). The latter won seven races in Poland including The Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Gr3 PA); Altimini (Dormane), a winner in the Sultanate of Oman, is another case in point. Djourella is also the grandam of Riyam (General): The Emirates Equestrian Federation International Stakes (Gr2 PA) winner. Djourifa (Djouras Tu), the grandam and a winner on the French circuit, has produced Djourdan (Dormane): successful in The Dubai Stakes at Newbury and The International Challenge Derby at Newmarket (Grs1 PA). Djourira is also the grandam of Za'abeel International Stakes (Gr1 PA) winner Radames (Kerbella). The great grandam is none other than the remarkable Cherifa (Chéri Bibi), of Haras du Mandore fame, and herself the source of prolific performers such as Djebbel (Djelfor), Djelmila (Manganate), Djezika (Dormane) and Ziva (Dormane); a bloodline which has propelled other class acts in the mould of Majd Al Arab (Amer): whose ten successes comprised The Emir’s Sword (Gr1 PA), plus Mushrae (Munjiz): successful in The Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA).
