H.H. THE PRESIDENT CUP - Rmmas posts a career best
ABU DHABI (UAE), FEBRUARY 2nd, 2020
Gr1 PA - 5-year-olds and up - 2,200m (11f) - AED 2,500,000
After winning the prep race for this on January 19th at the same track, Rmmas (Mahabb) recorded yet another big win, this time in the most coveted PA racing prize at Abu Dhabi, the H.H. The President Cup (Gr1 PA). It marks the first success at this level for the Jean de Roüalle trained runner and standardbearer of Sheikha Fatima Bint Mansoor Al Nahyan. Rmmas began his career in France with Didier Guillemin.
The treble eludes Al Zahir. Nashmee (Akbar) set the pace and was tracked by Dupleix (Madjani) on his outside, as the dual winner of this race, Al Zahir (Madjani), kept the leaders in his sights on the rails. Meanwhile, Rmmas was held up towards the rear. Rounding the final bend, the peloton became more compact, and Rmmas capitalised by continuing his surge on the outside. Halfway up the straight, Al Zahir momentarily took the lead, before Rmmas lengthened his stride and headed him in the final strides. Goshawke (Thoroughbred) got up at the death along the rail to whisk third off Harrab (Bibi de Carrère). Having already annexed the Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 (Gr1 PA) on January 30th at Meydan via Ziyadd (Bibi de Carrère), Jean de Roüalle added another prestigious prize to his haul. He said: "Rmmas asserted in good style today. Physically strong, he is very laid back during his races. The horse also showed a neat turn of foot. He loves pegging back other horses and can produce a telling burst of speed over 200m. He ran to a pound of his form in the prep race as the winning margin in which he beat Al Zahir was again very similar. I don’t have many horses in training, but I endeavour to aim the better ones at the big races. We also tasted Gr1 PA success via Ziyadd at Meydan and we focus heavily on these type of races. The win is a reflection of all the work undertaken at a breeding level by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with all these magnificent pedigrees, and it’s very much a team effort as I’m not the only cog in the wheel."

Hailing from one of the most coveted lines of Sheikh Mansoor. Rmmas is French-born and is out of Shamayl (Kesberoy) – a mare responsible for producing a number of top flight performers for owner-breeder Sheikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Rmmas is in fact a full brother to Joudh (Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes & Al Rayyan Cup - Prix Kesberoy, Gr1s PA), Mabrooka (Qatar Coupe de France des Chevaux Arabes, Gr1 PA) and Rakha (Liwa Oasis, Gr1 PA). The grandam, Kâline du Loup (Djouras Tu), also produced Câlin de Louve (Djelfor) – the winner of the Arabian Jockey Club Derby and the Arabian Cup Stakes (Grs1 PA). This particular strand of the Nevada II (Djanor) line is associated with the breeding academy of Jean-Marc Saphores and was responsible for producing Chéri Bibi (Baroud III).
