The Dubai International Arabian Races (DIAR) underpins its support for PA racing in 2020

The Dubai International Arabian Races (DIAR), sponsored by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, continue to support PA racing on the international stage. Regarding the French example, DIAR will provide additional funding for the June 29th card at La Teste-de-Buch. Consequently, the total prize money of the Shadwell Critérium des Pouliches (Gr2 PA, fillies & mares, 4-yos and upwards, 1,900m) (1m, 1f and 165 yds) has been increased to €30,000, which represents a €5,000 increase on 2019. The Shadwell Coupe du Sud-Ouest des Pur-Sang Arabes (Gr3 PA, 4-yos & up, 1,900m) (1m, 1f  & 165 yds) and the Shadwell Prix Bengali d’Albret (Maiden, 3-yos 1,400m) (7f)  will adorn the same card. The total prize money on offer for the big DIAR raceday at Newbury on July 26th is the subject of a £19,000 cash injection, which will be split among the various races. Shadwell Stud director Richard Lancaster said: "The participation of French trained horses in the DIAR races, whether in preparation races, or the big day at Newbury at the end of July, is always high in number and quality. We are very grateful for the support of French owners and trainers, as well as French breeders who use our stallions. It is therefore our pleasure to support Arabian racing in France."

DIAR has supported PA racing in Italy and, in 2016, it officially recognised the first stakes races for the breed there. In 2020, the Pattern Committee of IFAHR (International Federation of Arabian Horse Racing) agreed to the upgrading of two DIAR-sponsored races, the Premio Shadwell Arabian Stallions (3-yos, 1.500m) (7 1/2f) was elevated to L PA status, and the Premio DIAR 2020 (4-yos & up), 2,000m) (10f) was upgraded to Gr3 PA level. Mirza Al Sayegh, the DIAR spokesman, said: "We are delighted that the quality of the DIAR races held in Rome has been recognised and they have been upgraded. The quality of the Italian Arabian racehorses has improved remarkably in the past few years, with several horses coming to compete at Newbury in our flagship event in July, in addition to international races over the world."
