On this particular occasion Alban de Mieulle commented: "It’s invariably a very special moment when you beat two of the best PA horses in the world, Gazwan and Ebraz, above all when it coincides with a national holiday. Given that only seven runners went to post, one had reason to fear getting caught out in a tactical affair. In fact when I saw Yazeed all dressed up with nowhere to go, I said to myself "Oh my God", but he managed to extricate himself from his predicament and did it well at the end."
One of the most coveted PA pedigrees on the world stage. Yazeed is a son of the prolific
sire Munjiz (Kesberoy) and is a graduate of the breeding academy of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani. He was reared at the Haras du Grand Courgeon. The dam Al Dahma (Amer) won 25 races from the ages of three to eight. She recorded big wins in the Coupe d'Europe des Chevaux Arabes (three times); the French Arabian Breeders' Cup Mile ; the Emir's Sword (twice); the Qatar International Trophy (four times); the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani Trophy, the aforementioned Qatar National Day Trophy (twice); plus the Dubai International Stakes, the President Cup and the Malazgirt Trophy (Grs1 PA). After Yazeed, Al Dahma went on to produce Marid (TM Fred Texas), a dual Gr1 PA winner and the top French PA colt of 2018.
The high class General (Amer), a full brother to Al Dahma, carries out stallion duties at the Haras du Grand Courgeon. He is a dual winner of the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA).
