CLASSICS ON THE AGENDA FOR SENLIS Franco Polidori, the owner and breeder of

SSeennlliiss, was not at Capannelle to watch his three-year-old son of HHiigghh

CChhaappaarrrraall win the Gr.3 Premio Parioli, the Italian 2,000 Guineas.  “I was confident but I decided to stay at

home to protest against the bad management of racing in Italy. I don’t want to

receive a trophy from people that are working against owners and breeders,”

said the frank-speaking Polidori. Polidori, who breeds his horses under the

name of Compagnia Generale and runs them with the silks of Scuderia Pieffegi,

is the breeder of EElleeccttrrooccuuttiioonniisstt, winner of the Gr.1 Dubai

World Cup, and PPrriinnccee KKiirrkk, who collected the Gr.1 Prix d’Ispahan.

There’s something of Electrocutionist in the Senlis story.  “As with the dam of Electrocutionist, I also

sold SSeenneebbrroovvaa, the dam of Senlis. I bred the mare, who won the Gr.3

Premio Cumani for me, and although she had produced a good horse like SStteepphhaanntt,

a Stakes winner and Gr.2-placed, she had disappointed me overall. Senebrova had

four daughters and I sold all of them as well. I only have a a grand-daughter

of hers, a two-year-old by OOnnee CCooooll CCaatt who is in training with Mil Borromeo,”

commented Franco Polidori. The next stop for Senlis is undecided. Polidori

explained. “I will meet my trainer Mil Borromeo, who did a masterful job with

Senlis, within the next few days. The way for glory could be the Poule d’Essai

des Poulains but the Italian Derby is the more likely target. Senlis will run

for €1m, included the bonus prize for being Italian-bred, and I hope he can

stay the 11 furlong trip. If he does stay and runs well in the Italian Derby we

can then go for the Prix du Jockey-Club.”
