MARIE-ANGE BOURDETTE: “SNIPER DE MONLAU HAS SUPPORTERS: ON THE SIDE OF THE TRACK, WE CAN HEAR ‛SNIPER, SNIPER’!”

Third of the Dubai Kahayla Classic, Sniper de Monlau is one of the most promising Purebred Arabians of the season in the United Arab Emirates. Now aged 5, he was born and bred in France by Marie-Ange Bourdette. The breeder talks about the horse she took care of since he was young and that she now sees running amongst the big ones.

Sniper de Monlau showed his talent coming up from the back to take the third place in the Dubai Kahayla Classic. Never worse than fifth in ten runs, including eight times amongst the three first, Sniper de Monlau is very regular and already counts in his successes the Arabian Triple Crown Round I (L PA) and Arabian Triple Crown Round 3 (Gr. III PA, 2,400m), on the turf of Abu Dhabi.

His breeder, Marie-Ange Bourdette, who was rewarded with the title of best breeder in the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Darley Awards 2013, told us: “He was in training in France, but since he was not so early and not a big model, I took him back home. Finally I sold him in the United Arab Emirates, with other horses and Badira de Monlau and him were the ones to affirm themselves. I think that Sniper de Monlau is a very good horse. At first, he had a tendency to lean in the race but the last time they put blinkers on Sniper de Monlau and he ran straight. I still have his dam, Clairvoyant. She is out of Tahar de Candelon. We had tried to race her, but she was very tall, so we kept her as a broodmare. Sniper looks like his dam, by his height. She is a very easy mare. You sometimes have horses like that, that get comments because of their model, their pedigree. Today with Sniper’s success, the products by Tahar de Candelon are searched for in the United Arab Emirates. I like this stallion that produce big horses. I have one of his daughters, Dalia. Sometimes you need to leave horses affirm themselves. I think of the stallion Madjani who does not give early horses. Sniper de Monlau revealed himself at 4yos and he is very easy to manage said his trainer, Helal Al Alawi. He knows what to do when he puts a foot on the track. He is like his mother. His jockey also said he went on his own. And what makes me even happier is that he has supporters. On the side of the track, we can hear Sniper, Sniper! And there are even songs in his honor!
