French Arabian Breeders' Challenge Sprint - PHILIP COLLINGTON WINS THE "SPRINT" FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR

TOULOUSE (FRA), 26th October 2017

Gr. II PA - 4 year olds and over - 1,400m - € 45,000

Already a Group I PA winner at Chelmsford racecourse on the 12th August 2017, Mith’haf Athbah (Amer) was taking a little step down in category in this French Arabian Breeders' Challenge Sprint but he was changing distance. He won easily and gave his trainer Philip Collington a second consecutive success in this race after the victory of Jawaayil (Al Jakbar) in 2016.

It was the mare Al Raha (Majd Al Arab) who went on at the front of the pack, before ceding her position at the top of the straight, overtaken by Barnamaj (No Risk Al Maury). The latter was then joined by his stable companion Ateej (Af Albahar) on the front line. However Mith’haf Athbah came with his run up the rail to quickly take the measure of his opponents. Barnamaj held onto second place in front of Ateej.

A second consecutive Group PA

Manager of Athbah Stud, Abdul Moniem Ahmed Ali commented: "Mith’haf Athbah ran very well today, and I am delighted to have won a second consecutive Group PA. He won the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Cup (Gr. I PA) on his last start, his first win at Group PA level, and this time he had a very easy race under Pierre-Charles Boudot, the French champion jockey. For me, he is an honest, brave horse. What's more, to have delivered such a performance on one of the best racecourses in the world for Purebred Arabians is a consecration for Athbah Stud and above all with a homebred horse".

The bloodline of Mehdaaf Athbah

Mith’haf Athbah is the best offspring out of Karouj (Karmah), who never ran. The second dam, Khaddouj (Haroun) also never saw the racetrack. Khaddouj produced Kenithra (Djouras Tu), a winner at Kempton Park and Keen Game (Bengali d’Albret), who produced the useful Mehdaaf Athbah (Amer), second in the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr. I PA) in 2016. Martial Boisseuil, who bought the descendants of Mith'haf Athbah, commented: "This is a family that I bought and developed for Nadia Bestaoui who was the breeder of the grand-dam Khaddouj (Haroun), a mare that came from Morocco. We crossed her with an Argentinian horse who was unbeaten in
