ARABIAN TRIPLE CROWN ROUND III - GOSHAWKE WINS ANOTHER LEG OF THE ARABIAN TRIPLE CROWN
ABU DHABI (UAE), 17th MARCH 2018
Gr. III PA - 4 year olds - 2,400m - AED 300,000
The winner of Round II of the Arabian Triple Crown earlier in the month, Goshawke (Thoroughbred) was the easy victor of Round III, over 2,400 meters. Held up for the majority of the race, Goshawke wiped out his rivals in the straight, well ahead of Af Al Bairaq (Af Al Buraq) in second, while Mh Rahal (Ghadab) completed the finish of the Arabian Triple Crown Round III (Gr. III PA).

The race was led by Elyaah (Munjiz), followed at a distance by Mh Rahal, while Goshawke waited patiently at the rear. In the home straight, Mh Rahal took on the leader, and held his advantage until the 100 meter mark, before succumbing to Goshawke’s decisive attack and a final rush from Af Al Bairaq. Elyaah finished in fourth.
"I have had great results with this colours all season, and I am delighted to win such a big race as this one for the owners and the trainer", said the winning jockey, Fernando Jara. "He is a smart and an improving horse with a lot of stamina. He can be quite cold at first, but he is a horse that likes to be held up and come late with his run. It worked again tonight."
THE FRENCH MATERNAL BLOODLINE OF NEVADA II
Goshawke is out of the American champion Sand Witchh (Burning Sand), winner of ten of her eleven races including three Group PA races, who was Champion filly in the United States at three, and at four was voted Darley Horse of the Year 2010. His second dam, Tornade du Loup (Tornado de Syrah), is a French mare. Bred by Jean-Marc Saphores, she ran in the United States where she won multiple races including the Arabian Cup Championship Juvenile Fillies Stakes and the Jewels of the East Sapphire Sprint Stakes (Gr. Is PA). His third dam is Nevadou (Flipper) who has produced eleven winners. This is the family of Nevada II (Djanor), dam of the champion Chéri Bibi (Baroud III).
