SÉRAPHIN DU PAON HAS HIS FIRST WINNER IN FRANCE - A FULL HOUSE FOR DIDIER GUILLEMIN WITH HIS THREE YEAR OLDS

PRIX DJEBELLA II & PRIX DENOUSTE (MAIDEN)

The Prix Djebella II and the Prix Denouste are two important maidens for Purebred Arabians in the French program book. The Mont-de-Marsan based trainer, Didier Guillemin, won both races on the 20th April at Toulouse, thanks to Maravilla Al Maury (Séraphin du Paon) and Husam (Burning Sand).

In the Prix Djebella II, for fillies only, Maravilla Al Maury was always up near the leader, F Sia de Montrozier (Mahabb). The latter fought valiantly in the home straight, finishing in third behind Malicia Al Maury (Nizam), who had to bow out to Maravilla Al Maury, who won by a short distance. The first two past the post were bred by Renée-Laure Koch. The winning trainer, Didier Guillemin, commented: "Maravilla Al Maury has confirmed what she has shown us in the mornings. She is professional in her work, even if she is still a bit green. She won well and could improve again. Like the colt, Husam, she has shown on the track what we have seen in the morning. It’s always a good sign to win two maidens. It’s promising for the future."

A FIRST FRENCH WINNER FOR SÉRAPHIN DU PAON

This was a first victory in France for the winning sire Séraphin du Paon (Akbar) whose first French crop was born in 2015. Séraphin du Paon himself won two Group I PA races, including the Dubai Kahayla Classic and he stands at haras de Thouars (47). He had his fist winner in the United Arab Emirates in January, thanks to Baariz.

THE PROMISING HUSAM

In the Prix Denouste, Husam sat behind the leader Daloob (TM Fred Texas), and got up on the line for the win. Acamar (Amer) finished third. Husam, who carriers the colours of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani, made a brilliant return to the track after disappointing on his debut at the beginning of March at Le Bouscat. Didier Guillemin confirmed: "He was clearly hampered by the heavy ground on his debuts. He’s an attractive colt, and I like him a lot, he’s a nice type. I’m delighted with the win, as I was confident when he debuted at Bordeaux ». Husam is out of the multiple Group winner Al Anood (Amer).
