AVONMOUTH: FROM BERLAIS TO MOSCOW !

Avonmouth (Cambrydge) gave a potent reminder of his position as Russia’s best Purebred Arabian by outmatching his rivals in The UAE President Cup (Gr. I PA local, 1,800 meters) on the dirt at Moscow. Well tucked-in along the rails, he proved himself to be in a different league to his rivals as Pancer Faust (Karmel de Faust) and Harakan (Dahess) were left to collect the places.

AS YET UNBEATEN THIS SEASON

Since contesting the 2017 Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr. I PA), Avonmouth has stretched his winning streak on Russian soil to six: a tally which includes five local Group PA wins. A cursory examination of his CV reveals that he has won a total of thirteen Group PA races  – five of which were gained at the highest level. Although carrying the colours of Eduard Mordukhovitch, Avonmouth is very much a French bred, having spent his early days at the Haras du Berlais, the ‘nursery’ which reared him on behalf of Berend Van Dalfsen. Jean-Marc Lucas, the stud owner, told us in April:  "One of the great things about the Purebred Arabian scene is that it reflects current global trends, as there are races for the breed in all parts of the world. This prompted Berend van Dalfsen to take the plunge and invest in Purebred Arabian mares – at the same time as keeping several horses in training. He certainly isn’t blinkered and is one who loves racing abroad. It is surely not incidental that his two best protégés have distinguished themselves in Russia! Avonmouth has won seven Group races in that country, which include a number at Group I PA level. By the same token Mascate (Munjiz), who I co-bred and is out of a Njewman mare, made his mark in The Great Moscow Cup (Gr. I PA)."

A graduate of the Saint-Cloud sales, Avonmouth was sold for € 47,000 to Marc-Antoine Berghgracht of the MAB Agency.
