Al Shahania and its English thoroughbred successes!

The considerable success of the colours and breeding operation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani has been well documented. As we await the successes

of those Qatari Purebred Arabian raiders in the top international races, they have been upstaged, in the meantime, by their English thoroughbred counterparts. Qabala (Scat Daddy), bought as a foal, was third in the 1,000 Guineas (Gr1). Among the ‘Qatari’ contingent to carry the label of the Haras des Cruchettes, which is under the aegis of Thierry de Chambord, one must cite the names of Aspetar (Al Kazeem), the Grand Prix de Chantilly (Gr2) victor, and Pelligrina (Soldier Hollow). The latter captured the Prix Royaumont (Gr 3) on only her second career start. The name of the promising Markhor (Frankel) also springs to mind.
