FRENCH ARABIAN BREEDERS’ CHALLENGE - POULAINS: Mujazif sparks Mister Ginoux’s all-consuming dominance

LA TESTE-DE-BUCH (FR), September 4th, 2020

Gr2 PA - 3-year-old colts and geldings - 2,000m (10f) - €45,000

Mujazif (Mister Ginoux) showed his tough as teak qualities in the French Arabian Breeders’ Challenge - Poulains (Gr2 PA). Prominent throughout after seeing plenty of daylight following a two wide trip, the Al Asayl Bloodstock runner dug-in as the race hotted up in the straight. Sir Monlau (Al Mamun Monlau) fleetingly deprived him of the lead, but this invariably prompted a fightback from the François Rohaut runner which underpinned the colt’s victory by a head. Abbes (TM Fred Texas) had to settle for third on this occasion. After keeping the leaders in his sights, he was called upon for his challenge at the sharp end, but despite a creditable effort, the horse could make no impression on the principals; he was beaten two and a half lengths. Consequently, the Thomas Fourcy runner surrendered his unbeaten record, and his trainer reminded us on the Equidia channel before the race: "The horse had a good summer, with its barbeques and aperitifs, which was certainly my case." The colt was visibly carrying a bit of condition, and the race should bring him on in view of a crack at the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains (Gr1 PA) at Saint-Cloud on Friday, October 2nd.

Mister Ginoux savours his first Gr1 PA win. Mujazif hails from the first crop of Mister Ginoux (Amer), the stallion based at the Haras de Thouars and he is the latter’s first PA Group winner. Fifth on his debut in the Prix Akbar (maiden) on July 25th, when very laid-back, he subsequently opened his account in good style by taking the Prix Djourman when fitted in Australian-type (winkers) blinkers. He again raced in the headgear on Friday, having been supplemented for the Gr2 PA race. His trainer François Rohaut said in the post-race interview with Equidia: "I had warned connections that he wasn’t 100 per cent, and that this was a stepping stone to the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Poulains. So I was a bit surprised to see him win today. He will be in top condition for the decider. It was the only prep race prior to the Saint-Cloud feature which invited the supplementary entry."

The brother of Mahbooba. The stallion Mister Ginoux is represented by his first batch of three-year-olds, and three of his 11 runners have gained black type! The dam of Mujazif, Nevada du Loup (Manganate), won three races in the United Arab Emirates. She has produced several winners in the Gulf region, including Shamekha (Vadeer), the Purebred Arabian Sprinter Championship (Gr3 PA) third, and Mahbooba (Bibi de Carrère). The latter won the Emirates Championship (Gr1 PA). The grandam Nivada (Flipper) underscored her stud record by producing a number of very good horses. She is in fact the mother of Kâline du Loup (Djouras Tu), herself the dam of Câlin de Louve (Djelfor), whose eight race winning streak in the US includes two wins at Gr1 PA level, and Étoile du Loup (Blaise). The latter foaled the very first winner of the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA), Lahib (Kairouan de Jos), and Sophie du Loup (Manganate). The latter won ten races on the British circuit, including the Dubai International Stakes. This is the maternal line of Nevada II (Djanor).
