PRIX NEVADA II: JALELA DELIVERS AS EXPECTED BUT IN STYLE

TOULOUSE (FR), OCTOBER 24th 2020

Gr3 PA - 3-year-olds fillies - 1,600m (1m)) - €20,000

Second in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches (Gr1 PA) at Saint-Cloud on October 2nd, the filly Jalela (Mister Ginoux) was the class act in the Prix Nevada II (Gr3 PA). So her commanding success came as no surprise. After sitting on the heels of the leader, Haya du Prélat (Josco du Cayrou), Jalela went on the offensive at the entrance to the straight and she drew clear to win unchallenged. Recording her first Group PA success, she also lost her maiden tag in the process Guiness d’Vialettes (Af Albahar), only sixth at Saint-Cloud, showed improved form after being fitted with blinkers. She was beaten five and a half lengths into second. HM Al Malika (General) was third. The debutante Havane de l’Ardus (Séraphin du Paon) ran very respectably in fourth.

Proving to be an easier ride. Winning trainer Thomas Fourcy said: "She can sometimes race freely but today the filly proved to be a very straight forward ride, and so Jérôme Cabre was able to place her where he wanted to in the race. She asserted in a very clear cut manner.  HM Al Malika was running fairly soon after her last race. She’s still on the tender side, in common with Havane de l’Ardus, who needs to strengthen up."

Mister Ginoux is going great guns! Based at the Haras de Thouars where he covers on  behalf of Al Shaqab Racing, Mister Ginoux (Amer) has enjoyed remarkable success with his first crop of 3-year-olds. His record reveals that he has sired three PA Group winners from his 14 starters to date! They are Jalela, Alkedri (Mister Ginoux), successful in the French Arabian Breeders' Challenge-Pouliches (Gr2 PA), and Mujazif (Mister Ginoux). The latter made his mark in the French Arabian Breeders' Challenge-Poulains (Gr2 PA). Bred by Al Shaqab Racing, Jalela is out of Nefertarie (Mahabb. She has produced a previous winner, Al Ghashamiya (General), and the latter, in common with her sister, was second in the Qatar Arabian Trophy des Pouliches (Gr1 PA). The grandam Menine (Manganate) has produced the Prix de Carthage (Gr2 PA) winning Sousoff (Sousse). Menine is also the grandam of the Dubai Kahayla Classic (Gr1 PA) winning sire Manark (Mahabb). The great grandam is none other than the much acclaimed Mandore (Grabiec), the celebrated mare from the Jean-Marc de Watrigant academy…
