THE WORD OF AFAC: France is to stage three new PA races thanks to the Sheikh Mansoor Festival organisation

The current year is nearing its end but racing continues nonetheless…The traditional start to the PA racing scene takes place at Pau in February, and is marked by the staging of the Prix Haras de Gelos - Wathba Stallions Cup and the Prix Magicienne for the breed.

Despite the current circumstances, we have pleasure in announcing that three new races for PA horses, sponsored by the Sheikh Mansoor Festival organisation, have been added to Pau’s 2020-21 winter racing calendar.

Two (maiden) races for 3-year-olds will set the ball rolling on Tuesday, December 8th 2020.

  • DCT Abu Dhabi Cup - Sheikh Mansoor Festival:

1,400m (7f), weight 57kgs (9st): open to all sexes. Unraced horses will benefit from a 2 kilo (4lb) allowance. Penalties: 1kg (2lb) per every €3,000 won in win and place money. Purse: €18,000.

  • UAE National Archives Cup - Sheikh Mansoor Festival:

2,000m (10f), weight 57kgs (9st): open to all sexes. Unraced horses will benefit from a 2 kilo (4lb) allowance. Penalties: 1kg (2lb) per every €3,000 won in win and place money. Purse: €18,000.

Older horses will then take up the baton on December 13th, 2020:

  • Abu Dhabi Sports Council Cup - Sheikh Mansoor Festival:

2,400m (12f), weight 57k (9st): open to all sexes. Open to PA horses which haven’t finished in the first three at PA Group level this season. Penalties: 1kg (2lb) per every €3,000 won in win and place money. Purse: €18,000.

We would like to warmly thank the Sheikh Mansoor Festival for financing all three races and  their unwavering support during this very unusual season.

In order to showcase this sponsorship, our traditional stallion grand draw relative to the 2021 covering season will take place on Sunday, December 13th at Pau racecourse.

The conditions of the draw remain unchanged, and all members which will be there in person,  and are up to date as regards payment of their 2020 membership fees, are eligible to take part. The complete list of the relevant stallions will be forwarded to you at a later date. The participation fee for this draw is set at €50.

In order to organise this event as well as possible, please confirm your attendance by e-mailing contact@afac-france.com, or by phoning 07 86 28 89 33, before Monday, November 30th.

I hope that the sanitary protocols will enable us to organise an event dear to our association, and which affords all PA breeders/owners in France the opportunity of sharing in the conviviality of the occasion.
