Only PA sale in Europe

AFAC will be holding its general assembly at Toulouse on October 25th. The association is also the joint organising body of the only PA sale in Europe, in partnership with Arqana.

PA races in France are proving to be ultra-competitive affairs – the best in the world when it comes to younger horses – and so the breeders must therefore prove that they can mix it with the world's leading PA racing operations. Hoggar de l'Ardus (Mister Ginoux), bred by Philippe Meunier, won the Qatar Derby des 4ans (Gr1 PA); Soko (Nieshan), the Doha Cup - Prix Manganate (Gr1 PA) victor, hails from the breeding operation of Jean-Luc Jardel – one of the founding members of AFAC; Terre d'Or (Al Tair), a graduate of the Haras du Bosquet, landed the Prix Razzia III (Gr3 PA); Lady Princess (General), bred by Élodie and Bruno Bellaud, proved imperious in the Qatar International Stakes (Gr1 PA); whereas the Robert Litt-bred Solenzana (Af Albahar), made her mark in the French Arabian Breeders' Challenge-Pouliches (Gr2 PA). So the very least we can say is that AFAC members are enjoying an exceptional year, having bred most of the above mentioned horses. These represent great triumphs for the French breeders, given the competition posed by the big international multiples – Al Shaqab, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Al Asayl and the Royal Cavalry of Oman – who are playing the game by supporting French PA racing and, in most cases, subscribing to AFAC membership.

An exceptional sale. Organised jointly by AFAC and Arqana, the PA sale will take place on Thursday 30 September at Saint-Cloud racecourse, and it finds itself at the heart of a great week of racing – coming only a few days prior to the Qatar Arabian World Cup (Gr1 PA). Available online, the catalogue includes 115 PA racehorses and endurance horses, including horses-in-training, 2-year-olds, as well as a breeding stock section comprising mares, yearlings and stallions. It should be noted that horses which have gone on to become leading PA stallions such as Mister Ginoux (Amer), Dahor de Brugère (Dahess) have gone through the ring here... furthermore it has also proved possible to source future PA Group performers such as Amyr du Soleil (Amer), Artemis (Azadi) and Hoggar de l'Ardus... to mention only the most recent examples. The 2021 catalogue is notable for the presence of a high class performer: the ‘Victot’ stallion General (Amer) who has been consigned as lot 54. A triple Gr1 PA winner, which includes two victories in the Qatar Arabian World Cup, he has already sired a number of PA Group class performers (such as Lady Princess, Riyam, Rb Lam Tara...).
