Mutbahy Athbah provides a great tribute to Jean-François Bernard

Emotions were running high following the running of the fifth on the Monday evening card at Toulouse on March 6^th! As every year, Élisabeth Bernard has runners in the PA race which commemorates her late husband, who passed away in 2015. After years of trying, the handler finally hit the target by saddling the winner of the Prix Warda - Jean-François Bernard. Understandably, the trainer was very emotional after the race. She was all the more so given that Mutbahy Athbah (Jalnar Al Khalidiah) won the race under Jean-Bernard Eyquem, who was very close to Jean-François Bernard. Incidentally, the latter trained both the sire and dam of the winner, Jalnar Al Khalidiah (Tiwaiq) and Mandragore Al Maury (Dormane)! The Prix Warda - Jean-François Bernard is a race that tends to unearth some smart performers, as previous winners have often gone on to prove themselves at PA Group level...
